What is a laser diode?


  1. A Laser Diode is an acronym for "Laser amplification based on stimulated emission of light through stimulated emission (optical amplification)." a Laser Diode is also known as a semiconductor Laser, often referred to as an LD.

    Because it can produce light of exactly the same wavelength and phase, it is highly coherent.

    The light generated by the injection current is amplified back and forth between the two lenses until the laser oscillates. In short, a laser diode is an LED that amplifies light through a mirror.

    Because the spectrum width of laser diode is narrow and the wavelength is single, the phase is neat and the direction is high.

    Laser diodes make full use of their coherence properties, such as direct progressive, small spot size (um ~), monochromatism, high optical density and coherence, and have been widely used in a variety of applications.

    More recently, motion sensors, hard disk assisted magnetic recording and lighting (projectors, headlights) have also been used.
